Keeping your account secure

Passwords, security tips, and not sharing verification codes.

Passwords

If you use email sign-in, choose a strong password that you don’t use on other sites. We recommend a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols, and a password manager to store it securely. Don’t share your password with anyone; Swopsee will never ask for it by email or message.

Verification codes

We send 6-digit codes to verify your email or for certain security steps. These codes are for you only. Never share them with anyone, including people claiming to be from Swopsee. We will not ask you to read out or send a code to us or to a “support” number.

Keep deals on Swopsee

To benefit from our protections and dispute process, keep communication and payment on Swopsee. Off-platform payments (e.g. bank transfer, cash by post) are not covered by our Buyer & Swapper Protection and increase the risk of fraud. If someone pressures you to pay or chat elsewhere, stop and report them.

Sign out on shared devices

If you use Swopsee on a shared or public device (e.g. library or café), sign out when you’re done. That way the next user can’t access your account.

Report suspicious activity

If you notice unexpected logins, changed details, or messages you didn’t send, change your password (for email accounts) and contact support. Report any suspicious users or listings—see Reporting a user or listing.
