Counteroffers and negotiation

Accept, reject, or counter; change delivery or terms in chat.

Accept, reject, or counter

When someone sends you a swap request or offer, you can:

  • Accept: You agree to the swap or offer. You then complete the trade using the chosen delivery method (meetup, locker, courier, or HQ verification).
  • Reject: You decline. The other person is notified; no further action needed unless one of you starts a new request.
  • Counter: You propose different terms—e.g. a different item, different delivery, or a message like “I’d prefer in-person.” The other person can then accept, reject, or counter again.

All in chat

Negotiation happens in the dedicated chat thread for that transaction. You can change delivery method, suggest another item, or add notes. System messages may appear when delivery or payment steps are completed (e.g. locker booked, courier paid). See Chat during a swap or offer and Agreeing delivery in chat.

When you both agree

Once you’re aligned on items and delivery, follow the flow: pay any delivery fees if needed, then complete the handover (meetup) or ship/drop off (locker, courier, HQ). See Tracking your order and When you pay on Swopsee.

If something goes wrong

If the item doesn’t match the listing or delivery fails, use our dispute process. See Refunds & Disputes and Buyer & Swapper Protection.
