When we create a chat
A chat thread is created when:
- You send a swap request—you’re offering one of your items for someone else’s. The other user is notified and you’re both taken to the thread. See How swapping works.
- You send an offer (Make an offer) on a native listing. Same flow: they’re notified, thread is created. See Making an offer.
In both cases the thread is tied to that transaction. You negotiate, agree delivery, and complete the trade there. See Chat during a swap or offer.
When we don’t create a chat
We do not create a chat when you Buy Now. You chose delivery at checkout and paid; the seller gets order and delivery instructions. Any follow-up (e.g. “Where do we meet?” for in-person) may be via order page or email, not an in-app chat thread. See Buying an item and Delivery when you Buy Now.
Summary
Swap or offer → chat created. Buy Now → no chat; use order history and notifications for updates.
